MASAF leads the first institutional mission into the heart of the global fish market
Ten Italian companies and Coldiretti Pesca, led by MASAF, will be presenting for the first time at Seafood Expo Asia in Singapore. With sustainability, traceability, and innovation, Italy's participation aims to tap into the strong demand for certified products in Asian countries, a market that accounts for 72% of global seafood consumption. Director General Graziella Romito will be a special guest at the fair's opening ceremony.
Singapore, September 2, 2026 – The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty, and Forestry (MASAF) will debut its own institutional space at Seafood Expo Asia, scheduled for September 2-4 at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore. This historic presence represents a commitment to industrial policy and coordinated promotion of the Italian economy, designed to strengthen the internationalization of the Italian seafood supply chain.
The objective of the institutional mission is to tap into the growing demand for certified, traceable, and high-value products in Asian countries, a market that accounts for 72% of global seafood consumption for human consumption. The ideal starting point is Singapore, not only a destination market importing over 90% of its food needs, but also a key gateway and strategic logistics and commercial hub for the entire Southeast Asia region. In a context where seafood is already an integral part of the local culture, the Ministry's oversight aims to position the origin and certified quality of Made in Italy within categories already recognized and appreciated by high-spending buyers and consumers in Southeast Asia and the Far East.
Together with Coldiretti Pesca, MASAF is accompanying 10 top-quality companies representing 7 regions (Campania, Emilia-Romagna, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Lazio, Lombardy, Sicily, and Veneto) to Singapore. The Italian delegation will represent the entire national production landscape, from Mediterranean resources to high-tech mariculture, freshwater production, and high-end caviar. The explicit aim is to showcase not individual excellences, but an entire supply chain, expertise, production capacity, innovation, and a culture of quality.
The Singapore trade show is a gateway to Asian markets
Seafood Expo Asia confirms its position as the leading B2B trade event entirely dedicated to the seafood sector in the APAC region. The event brings together over 4,000 industry professionals and qualified buyers from more than 75 countries, representing the ideal meeting point between global supply chains and the giants of large-scale retail, food service, luxury hospitality, and Asian import-export. This year's edition focuses on technological innovation, resource sustainability, and the development of high-added-value ready-to-eat products, in a context where over 75% of the trade visitors in attendance play a direct role in corporate purchasing decisions.
The Italian delegation will play a particularly significant role in the overall context of the event, with the participation of MASAF Director General of Marine Fisheries and Aquaculture, Graziella Romito, as a special guest at the fair's opening ceremony, demonstrating the centrality of the Italian model in the global seafood landscape.
The MASAF exhibition area (Stand E26) will host a rich program of events to showcase the biodiversity and technologies of Italian companies. The three-day program is designed to provide a representative overview of the diversity and quality of Italian production, from shellfish farming to sturgeon farming and caviar, from crustaceans to smoked products, all the way to processed and ready-to-eat seafood. It will feature technical presentations, a focus on Mediterranean and inland water supply chains, institutional events, and guided tastings led by chef Simone Fraternali during cooking demonstrations.
Institutional participation is implemented and undertaken within the framework of the activities financed by the PN FEAMPA 2021-2027 (European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund).
