Veneto: €1.3 million for agricultural and fisheries emergencies

Region: Funding to tackle bluetongue, blue crabs, adverse events and plant diseases

05, Sep 2026

“With agriculture and fisheries increasingly exposed to extreme weather events, new pests and natural disasters that jeopardise production and profitability, new tools and the ability to respond promptly are required.” The Regional Councillor for Agriculture, Dario Bond, has announced the approval of the 2026 programme to tackle emerging challenges in the primary sector, with a budget of 1.3 million euros.

The funds will finance a range of measures, from risk management to plant health research, from support for the fisheries and aquaculture sectors affected by natural disasters to the protection of native sheep breeds threatened by bluetongue. The programme stems from the work of the permanent technical committee set up at Veneto Agricoltura, which brings together the Region, the Agency, producers’ organisations and representatives from the agricultural sector, with the aim of identifying concrete responses to the new challenges facing the sector.
