Biosecurity in pig farms has taken on an increasingly strategic role in recent years. It is no longer merely a response to health emergencies, but a fully-fledged prevention system capable of safeguarding animal health, welfare and the competitiveness of farms.
Among the aspects requiring greater attention is the control of flies and rodents, potential vectors of pathogens and risk factors that are often underestimated in the day-to-day management of farms.
This topic will be explored in depth during the workshop ‘Biosecurity on pig farms: Flies, rodents and pig performance’, organised by Colkim as part of Pig Farming Day, which will take place on 14 October 2026 in Verona at the Chamber of Commerce, starting at 8.30 am.
