In July, prices for slaughter pigs and sows for slaughter rose, whilst prices for breeding stock fell once again.
On a month-on-month basis, the profitability of Italian farmers operating in Site 1 and Site 2 has fallen; whilst the profitability of operators in Site 3 and the Closed Cycle is recovering. Current levels, however, remain lower than those of last year.
Compared with June, the profitability of Italian slaughterhouses has worsened, though it remains higher than last year.
There has been a further improvement in the profitability of PDO ham curing operators; the profitability of non-PDO ham curing operators is also returning to growth.
The profitability gap between PDO and non-PDO products remains in favour of PDO products.
