The essence of Modena’s culinary tradition comes to Vinitaly 2026 with a star attraction: Mortadella Favola Gran Riserva, Italy’s most award-winning mortadella and a symbol of Salumificio Palmieri’s mastery of cured meats.

On Monday, April 13, at Hall 3, Stand E5, Favola Gran Riserva will be in the spotlight at the new edition of La Merenda dei Campioni, an exclusive event celebrating the finest expressions of Italian charcuterie paired with the prestigious wines of The Wine of the Champions collection, labels born from the collaboration between Fabio Cordella and some of the world’s greatest soccer athletes.

Designed to highlight products of excellence and showcase their quality through guided tastings, the project stems from an idea by Sabatino Sorrentino, longtime director of the I Salumi d’Italia Guide, who felt it was only natural to pair Favola Gran Riserva, cooked in its rind and hand-sewn, with the great champions of sport. Favola Gran Riserva, in fact, is not a mortadella like any other: it stems from a family recipe preserved for decades, crafted with premium cuts of Italian pork, selected spices, and a slow cooking process in pork rind, a patented method that has revolutionized the industry. Each piece is hand-sewn by the master charcutiers at Salumificio Palmieri and cooked in the historic stone ovens in San Prospero. A true modern “fairy tale” that continues to win over chefs, gourmets, and enthusiasts alike.
