This is a limited-edition lollipop inspired by the flavour of the iconic IKEA meatball, which will be available free of charge in hundreds of IKEA stores worldwide from June onwards
On 1 April, the Ingka Group – the largest IKEA retailer, operating in 32 countries – and Chupa Chups, one of the world’s most iconic lollipop brands, intrigued audiences worldwide by announcing a meatball-flavoured lollipop – Swedish, of course. Today, what seemed like nothing more than an April Fool’s joke has become a reality: the two companies are joining forces to launch a limited-edition lollipop inspired by the flavour of the iconic IKEA meatball, which will be available free of charge in hundreds of IKEA stores worldwide from June onwards.
At Milan Design Week, IKEA will offer an exclusive first taste of the initiative, giving the public a sneak preview of this unusual collaboration born from a blend of creativity, humour and a love of food. Chupa Chups has, in fact, reimagined the flavours of the iconic Swedish meatball and its traditional cranberry sauce in a sweet form, creating a unique product that captures the essence of one of the most beloved elements of the IKEA universe.
«On 1 April, we invited people to imagine a meatball-flavoured lollipop. We couldn’t resist the temptation to turn that idea into reality, especially after such an enthusiastic response» commented Javier Quiñones, Commercial Manager of the Ingka Group. «A total of 1 million lollipops will be produced and distributed in IKEA stores worldwide: they will not be for sale, but customers will be able to try them for free by visiting IKEA stores».
