Tours, tastings and unique experiences will guide visitors on a journey of discovery through Balsamic Vinegar of Modena PGI and Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena PDO
The countdown has begun for Acetaie Aperte 2026, scheduled for Sunday 27 September across the province of Modena. The event once again invites tourists, enthusiasts, families and curious visitors to the places where Aceto Balsamico di Modena PGI and Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale di Modena PDO are produced, to meet the producers and gain an insight into a culture that is integral to the history and identity of the region.
Organised by Le Terre del Balsamico, the second-tier consortium bringing together the Consorzio Tutela Aceto Balsamico di Modena and the Consorzio Tutela Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale di Modena, the 2026 edition involves 43 vinegar cellars and local organisations. Businesses, family-run and municipal vinegar producers, and sites of balsamic culture will open their doors for a day of tours through vineyards, toasting must, rows of barrels, decanting and topping-up, accompanied by tastings and food pairings.
The programme combines traditional tours with numerous activities designed to showcase balsamic vinegar through different mediums. Among the most original activities are yoga sessions in the vineyard, live music and a fusion of balsamic vinegar and motoring featuring historic cars. There will also be blind tastings turned into a competition to identify the age of the product, comparative masterclasses exploring the evolution of aromas and textures over time, and demonstrations of must cooking and traditional decanting and topping-up
