Domestic consumption of pork and cured meats in Italy

According to ISMEA-Nielsen IQ CPS data, in the period 1 January - 24 March 2024, domestic consumption of fresh pork was down 6.4% and
in value, the decrease was 2.3% compared to the same period in 2023. In the case of cured meats, the quantities consumed were down 5.1%.
while in value they fell by 2.4%. Prosciutto di Parma PDO and Prosciutto di San Daniele PDO recorded a decrease in
quantities purchased of -7.9% and -4.8% respectively, with a drop in value of 8.6% for PDO Parma Ham and 1.7% for PDO San Daniele Ham.
San Daniele PDO. During the same period, there was an increase in average consumer prices for fresh pork and Prosciutto di San Daniele PDO,
while for Prosciutto di Parma PDO there is a decrease of 0.7% compared to the same period in 2023.
