Every Christmas, the same scene repeats itself: you have to choose which dessert to put on the table and find yourself facing one of the most classic dilemmas of the festive season. And, while the debate rages on within families, pandoro emerges as the undisputed champion in the great holiday derby. This is revealed by a survey conducted by the Shopping Observatory of DoveConviene, the app that simplifies shopping by saving time and money, according to which 52% of Italians prefer the Verona dessert to panettone, chosen by 32% of consumers. Next in the ranking of essential Christmas desserts, 8% choose nougat as the symbolic dessert of the holidays, while another 4% choose the delicious tronchetto.
Looking at the different varieties in detail, most pandoro lovers remain faithful to the classic version (65%). Almost 1 in 4 (23%) are tempted by fillings, while more than 1 in 10 Italians (12%) cannot resist the chocolate-enriched variety. Even when it comes to panettone, the classic version with candied fruit remains the consumers' favorite choice (70%), although 30% cannot resist an extra touch of indulgence, including creams (18%) and chocolate chips (12%).
