Marella Levoni, of Levoni Spa, picks up the baton from Francesco Pizzagalli, who led IVSI for the past 12 years and before that, from 2000 to 2006
Marella Levoni (Levoni Spa) is the new president of the Istituto Valorizzazione Salumi Italiani (IVSI) for the three-year period 2024-2027, taking the baton from Francesco Pizzagalli (Fumagalli Ind. Alimentari Spa), at the helm of IVSI for the last 12 years and, before that, from 2000 to 2006. Regarding the challenges, the new president has clear ideas. «In recent years, the institute has placed the issue of sustainable development at the centre, helping companies face a revolutionary change. But there is a lot of work to be done, and there is still a long way to go to ensure that more and more companies in our sector evolve in the way they do business. Another challenge we will have to face is related to artificial intelligence. This too can be a great growth opportunity for our companies if used effectively».
Among the other objectives of his mandate is to focus on the promotion of cured meats, the heart of the institute's mission. «Italian cured meats represent a pride of Made in Italy food, envied and imitated all over the world. We need to dialogue with consumers and the new generations so that they continue to appreciate the taste and sense of conviviality that our products bring».
