Pre-sliced meat drives growth of Coppa di Parma PGI

Economic data 2024: in the last three years, the share of trays in total turnover has risen from 25% to the current 33%.

An export share rising to 16%, bringing turnover to 74 million euro. And a growth in pre-sliced products, which now account for 33% of overall turnover. The year 2024 of the Coppa di Parma PGI Consortium, the protection body in the heart of the Food Valley that includes 21 member companies for a sector employing over 500 people, including direct employees and workers linked to allied industries, closed on a positive note. In the last year, volumes remained constant compared to 2023, with 3.9 million kilos of processed meat, 1.9 of which destined for the certified product, for a production turnover of 31 million euros.

Fabrizio Aschieri, president of the Consorzio di tutela della Coppa di Parma IGP: «Despite the increase in prices for raw materials, we closed 2024 positively. We welcome with great pleasure the growth in pre-sliced products, which are becoming increasingly important to make the most of a product of excellence such as Coppa di Parma, and the increase in the export quota. And it is precisely on foreign markets that we must invest more and more, all the more so after the latest amendment to the specifications, which guarantees us a superior quality product thanks to modern and precise control methods».
