The first public event in Italy is scheduled to take place from 11 to 13 October 2026 at Bologna Fiere, as part of iFish
In the seafood sector, organoleptic quality, food safety, identification of the fishing area, and product traceability are paramount. Seafood markets play a strategic role in this context: they serve as wholesale hubs for fresh and ultra-fresh products, showcase local and seasonal catches, and help ensure traceability and sanitary safety. Today, they are evolving into multifunctional hubs, offering services that go beyond commercial intermediation, logistics, and storage.
To support this evolution, the TITAN project—*Tracciabilità Intelligente delle filiere iTtiche, Ambiente marino e logistica iNtegrata* (Intelligent Traceability of Seafood Supply Chains, Marine Environment, and Integrated Logistics)—was launched under the Abruzzo ERDF Regional Programme 2021-2027. Its goal is to improve traceability, optimize logistics, and integrate environmental and supply chain data through solutions applicable in real-world operational settings. The project aims to reach a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of 8.
The project is led by Infoteam, supported by partners Beta 80, Futura IT, Innovacoop, and the “G. d’Annunzio” University of Chieti-Pescara. These partners combine technological, environmental, and organizational expertise and oversee the dissemination of results.
The integrated digital platform will utilize a cloud-edge architecture alongside Blockchain, RFID, and IoT technologies. Artificial intelligence and machine learning will analyze logistics flows, generate forecasts, and support decision-making via dedicated dashboards.
Living Labs and co-design initiatives will involve industry operators in analyzing critical issues and specific needs. Concurrently, studies on supply chain digitalization and research into water, sediments, and contaminants will be conducted.
The solutions will be tested within regional seafood supply chains to verify their performance, robustness, and organizational, economic, and operational impacts, as well as the effectiveness of the predictive models applied to logistics. TITAN thus aims to build an integrated model to support the digital transition of the seafood supply chain and develop solutions that can also be transferred to other production contexts. Networking seafood markets and strengthening collaboration among industry players are part of this objective.
The first public event in Italy is scheduled for October 11–13, 2026, at Bologna Fiere during iFish, the trade fair dedicated to digital innovation in the seafood sector.
