Fish farming activities are consolidated with the synergy between API and Confagricoltura.
Developing and consolidating fish farming activities through initiatives of scientific, technical and economic value, strengthening the synergy with Confagricoltura. These were the objectives shared at the first official meeting held at Palazzo della Valle between the new API (Italian Fish Farmers' Association) top management, with president Matteo Leonardi, deputy Claudio Pedroni with responsibility for mariculture, director Andrea Fabris, and Confagricoltura president Massimiliano Giansanti.
API, which represents more than 90% of Italian aquaculture enterprises, is part of the confederal network and, in line with Confagricoltura's vision, promotes all necessary actions to strengthen and enhance the sector, which is worth more than 400 million euro.
Just back from their active participation in AquaFarm in Pordenone last week, where API's stand was the focal point of the event with meetings, tastings, and presentations, the newly-appointed president Leonardi and vice-president Pedroni illustrated the upcoming activities and priorities for the development of the sector: strengthening synergy, improving product quality and traceability, and promoting applied research.
The event on 20 March in Rome, at Palazzo della Valle, dedicated to mariculture, with the sector's general states in the face of climate change, new frontiers in food, and animal welfare, is part of this direction.
