Administrative benefits and improved staff management following the introduction of the Seafarers’ Register
A new phase of simplification and digitalisation is beginning for the Italian fisheries sector. With the publication in the Official Gazette No. 91 of 20 April 2026 of Law No. 50/2026, the conversion of the so-called “PNRR-bis Decree” (Decree-Law No. 19 of 19 February 2026) officially comes into force. The measure introduces urgent measures for the implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, which have a direct impact on personnel management and the modernisation of the maritime public administration.
“This resolves an issue that had affected our fishing fleets and had created no small number of interpretative problems across the regions,” comments Elena Ghezzi, Head of Fisheries and Aquaculture at Legacoop Agroalimentare.
