106 hydraulic dredgers are being deployed to combat oxygen depletion and facilitate the restoration of productive conditions
The project to revitalise production and restore the environment for the common clam along the Veneto coast has officially got underway, marking a decisive step towards the recovery of the bivalve mollusc sector.
At the Veneto Agricoltura headquarters, the operational contract was signed between the Bivalve Mollusc Fisheries Management Consortia (Co.Ge.Vo.) of Chioggia and Venice, represented by their presidents Michele Boscolo Marchi and Massimo Pedronetto, in the presence of director Federico Caner, as part of the collaboration agreement between Masaf, Crea and Veneto Agricoltura.
The pilot project, backed by funding of over €4 million, aims to counteract the effects of the spread of mucilage in the Northern Adriatic through targeted measures for the remediation, cleaning and oxygenation of the seabed, constituting an important ecosystem service initiative.
