Illegal fishing and the effects of drought and warming have put the Slow Food Presidia of the Portonovo wild mussels and the Torre Guaceto small-scale fisheries in crisis
Almost five hundred kilometres separate them, but the fishermen of Ancona and Torre Guaceto are experiencing the same dramatic situation: the sea, until a few years ago rich in resources, is presenting the bill. There are no more fish or shellfish and so, to try and save their sea and their work, they have decided to stop. In Ancona, the start of the season has been postponed for a month; in Puglia's marine protected area, the stop will last a whole year.
