Slow Food Italy's four-day event dedicated to aquatic and coastal ecosystems celebrates its 20th anniversary at Genoa's Old Port from today until 11 May
‘We believe in Slow Fish, we believe in the issues that it has been advancing for twenty years, we give voice to the sea convinced that direct dialogue between fishermen and citizens is fundamental,’ said Slow Food Italy President Barbara Nappini during the inauguration at the Slow Fish Masaf Arena that officially kicked off Slow Fish 2025, scheduled to run until 11 May at Genoa's Old Port. ‘Today more than ever it is topical to give voice to the sea, more than just talking about fishing. Because the sea is fundamental for our lives, for those who live from the sea and for those who do not even see the sea. We have forgotten that life comes from the sea, starting with 50% of the oxygen we breathe. To think that we can continue to abuse it for profit is to hold life and the future in contempt'.
