Fishing companies are invited to the workshop "The PDO and PGI System and Prospects for the Fishing Sector," which will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., at the Cesenatico Marine Research Center, Viale A. Vespucci 2.
Purpose of the Initiative
The meeting aims to explore the role of Protected Designations of Origin (PDO) and Protected Geographical Indications (PGI) in the fishing industry, analyzing:
The workshop also provides an opportunity for institutions, consortia, professional operators, and trade associations to discuss issues, with the aim of promoting local production and raising awareness of quality protection tools.
Speakers and Participants
The following will be present:
Diego Viviani, President of the Marine Research Center, will provide introductory remarks.
Piergiorgio Vasi, Head of Fisheries and Aquaculture Promotion for the Emilia-Romagna Region, will provide an introductory reflection on the regional context.
Alberto Ventura, Head of Support and Promotion of Regulated Quality Production, will discuss the rules, procedures, and possibilities of the PDO/PGI system.
Paolo Mancin, President of the Scardovari Fishermen's Consortium, will present the experience of the Scardovari Mussel.
