Venetian FLAG: Network of Fisheries and Aquaculture Service Centers launched.

The first operational meeting with territorial representatives in the Veneto Region

05, Sep 2025

Portogruaro, September 5, 2025 – The first meeting between the Venice FLAG and representatives of the five Service Centers funded through the FEAMPA 2021-2027 Program took place yesterday (Thursday, September 4) at the Veneto Region headquarters in Venice.

The Service Centers, promoted by the main trade associations participating in the Venice FLAG partnership—Legacoop, Confcooperative, AGCI, PescaAgri-CIA, and Coldiretti—represent a local presence supporting fishing and aquaculture communities. The operational offices are located in the two main fishing areas, Caorle and Cavallino Treporti, to ensure proximity and accessibility to businesses in the sector.

Their role will provide operational support to both the Venice FLAG and the Veneto Region, with activities that include providing information and technical assistance to potential beneficiaries in preparing applications for regional and FLAG funding, as well as local outreach, information dissemination, and awareness-raising on issues related to fishing and aquaculture. The goal is to strengthen the local system's ability to seize funding opportunities, support businesses through the challenges of ecological transition and sustainability, and raise awareness of the transformations the sector is facing.

Representing the associations that manage the Service Centers, the meeting was attended by Igor Coccato, Daniela Novelli, and Claudio Gusso for Legacoop, Maria Teresa Carta for Confcooperative, Mauro Vio for AGCI, Chiara Frasson and Angelo Cancellier for PescaAgri-CIA, and Matteo Gatto for Coldiretti. Veneto Region officials Giuseppe Cherubini and Martina Lucon were also present, along with Agriconsulting technicians responsible for regional technical assistance for the FEAMPA Program.

The meeting marked the beginning of a coordination process aimed at consolidating a network of Service Centers as a concrete tool for the benefit of fishing businesses and the local area, capable of operating in synergy with the Venice FLAG and regional institutions.

The President of the Venice FLAG, Antonio Gottardo, stated:

"Following the approval of the projects by the Region, this first meeting marks the operational launch of a network of outposts that will be crucial for the fishing and aquaculture sector. The Service Centers are not simply help desks, but places of support, listening, and innovation. Their task will be to help businesses navigate calls for proposals and seize new opportunities, but also to spread knowledge and awareness of the ongoing transformations. This is a tool that strengthens the Venice FLAG's ability to concretely respond to the needs of the territory and to work together with the Region for the sustainable and competitive development of our fishing sector."

With this first operational step, the Venice FLAG consolidates its role as a liaison between institutions, trade associations, and fishing communities, in line with the objectives of the FARI (Future, Environment, Resources, Innovation) Action Plan, the strategic implementation tool of the FEAMPA 2021-2027 Program.
