Middle East crisis: Federpesca welcomes EU funds and new state aid framework for the fisheries sector

Also crucial in this regard is the work initiated by the Commission to define, by the end of April, a new temporary framework for state aid, which will allow the de minimis limit – currently set at €40,000 – to be exceeded, thereby enabling more effective interventions tailored to the needs of businesses.

Federpesca welcomes today’s decision by the European Commission to activate the EMFF crisis mechanism in support of fisheries and aquaculture, making €760 million available to offset high energy costs and increased operating costs for businesses.

Also crucial in this regard is the work initiated by the Commission to define, by the end of April, a new temporary framework for state aid, which will allow the de minimis limit – currently set at €40,000 – to be exceeded, thereby enabling more effective interventions tailored to the needs of businesses.

“We have argued in recent weeks that, following the Italian Government’s commitment, Europe too should play its part, and we have been working towards this together with Minister Francesco Lollobrigida. Today marks a crucial step in this direction,” adds Francesca Biondo.
