CATTEL seafood sector expands private label range with JesolPesca

Articulate assortment with guaranteed quality also through the JesolPesca private label

The range of branded items offered by Cattel Spa through its private labels, registered trademarks with which the Veneto-based company is able to offer quality products with a high service content and thanks to which it stands out in the competitive Horeca market, is increasingly articulated. While the other brands (Valdora and DiGià) are transversal and include various product categories, JesolPesca is reserved for a specific merchandise category: seafood.

The Cattel seafood assortment includes fresh products (managed by the historic JesolPesca plant), but also preserved products (e.g. canned), frozen and perishable products (smoked and brine products), managed in the modern plant in Noventa di Piave (VE).

With its assortment of products sourced from selected seas and farms, and through manual processing and an uninterrupted cold chain, JesolPesca is a well-established company in the marketing, import and export, distribution and storage of fresh seafood products, and was acquired by Cattel in 2018 in order to be able to provide its customers with a comprehensive service and guarantee them a wide-ranging and high-quality offer.

As confirmed by the recent renewal of the FSSC 22000 certification related to food safety management systems in the handling of seafood products (cutting, deliscing, filleting, etc.), the company is committed to compliance with the main international food safety standards and aims at continuous process improvement to provide increasingly safer products. 'The safety and quality of products and processes,' explains Gianfranco Cattel, 'are of paramount importance to us, and we have always imposed strict controls on ourselves to ensure very high organoleptic and hygiene standards and in the purchase of foodstuffs, the evaluation of suppliers, and incoming and warehouse controls. It is thanks to all this that, more and more often, we are chosen as the sole supplier.

Currently, the JesolPesca brand is applied to frost processing carried out in the fish factory as well as to frost and perishable products acquired from partners selected according to strict selection criteria aimed at guaranteeing a constant quality standard.

‘We try to control the supply chain as much as possible and to offer the end customer the right product at the right price,’ says Marta Bagolin, Cattel's Fish Sector Buyer. "The weight of the JesolPesca brand in the seafood sector is still limited because it is a changeable sector, characterised by considerable variability linked to the availability of the product in nature, so it is difficult to consolidate lines and be able to propose them continuously.

That being said, the JesolPesca branded assortment aims to select at least one branded proposal per line, aiming to qualify as a reference on the Horeca scene, becoming synonymous with guarantee and reliability. This path started several years ago, when JesolPesca was just a fishmonger's shop,‘ continues Marta Bagolin, ’and it aims to become more and more articulated through the launch of a premium line under the JesolPesca Selezione brand, a label that will mark higher quality products: the top of the range in the category at the right price".
