Pordenone, March 13, 2025 - A month after the closing of the 8th edition of AquaFarm, which marked the return of the unified event with NovelFarm and AlgaeFarm - respectively reaching their 6th and 4th edition - official data are available on the attendance of potential buyers at the Pordenone exhibition centre. The 30% growth compared to last year's corresponding numbers is confirmed, with a total of 2,400 visits. A quarter came from abroad, led by Croatia from which 16.6% of potential buyers arrived, a confirmation of the event as a reference point for Balkan Europe. Brazil's figure was interesting, thanks to a delegation organised in collaboration with Agenzia ICE.
On the exhibitor front, of the total 110, including direct exhibitors, co-exhibitors and brands represented, almost a third were foreign, with France leading the way as the country of origin, followed surprisingly by the United States and then, paired, by Spain, Norway and Denmark.
A key role in the success of the 2025 edition was played by the conference programme, which with 21 sessions and over 150 speakers covered all the most relevant fields of the three sectors: aquaculture, vertical farming and algae farming.
Among the highlights of AquaFarm were the sessions dedicated to sustainability in aquaculture, energy self-sufficiency and innovative solutions for the decarbonisation of the sector. Also noteworthy were the ‘Aquaculture and Fishery Products with Added Value’ sessions with the leaders of the aquaculture supply chain as protagonists, and the ‘EU - FEAMPA’ session on European innovations impacting the sector.
NovelFarm attracted a large audience with the opening theme ‘Indoor farming in Italy: technological greenhouses, vertical farms, urban agriculture between regulations, investments and the market’, in which sector players, consultants and academics came together to discuss the evolution of controlled agriculture in the urban environment.
Another highlight was the AlgaeFarm closing round table on the future of the algae supply chain, which explored the opportunities and challenges for the sector, from food to pharmaceuticals.
AquaFarm, NovelFarm and AlgaeFarm are therefore confirmed as a must-attend event for the sector, capable of attracting more and more operators and the public thanks to a format that combines exposure, high-level professional updating and business opportunities.
Presentations and proceedings of the conference sessions will be published on the event's official website in the near future.
The appointment is for 18 and 19 February 2026 for the 9th edition of AquaFarm, which will be held in conjunction with NovelFarm & AlgaeFarm.
AquaFarm is an international exhibition and conference on sustainable aquaculture and fishing industry, organised by Pordenone Fiere in cooperation with API, Associazione Piscicoltori Italiani.
