The Prosciutto di Parma Consortium is once again taking center stage at SIAL (Salon International de l’Alimentation)—one of the world’s leading international trade fairs for the agri-food sector—taking place in Paris from October 17 to 21.

As always, the body responsible for safeguarding Parma PDO ham will provide its members with a spacious area (Hall 6 – Stand E119) to host meetings with clients and guests—a sort of headquarters serving the member companies, featuring the iconic display of Prosciutto di Parma hams.

"For us, SIAL represents a vital opportunity to meet and engage with international industry professionals," comments Alessandro Utini, President of the Prosciutto di Parma Consortium. "In a particularly complex economic and geopolitical climate—marked by international tensions, trade uncertainties, and new business challenges—we believe it is crucial to strengthen dialogue with our partners and other producers. Our participation in the fair is part of a strategy to promote Prosciutto di Parma in foreign markets, with the aim of consolidating our presence in countries where we are already established and seizing new growth opportunities in emerging, promising markets."

The event will also serve as an opportunity to share the Consortium’s key initiatives with stakeholders, ranging from sustainability to training. "We continue to invest in strategic initiatives for the sector's future, such as the ecological transition project developed in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Milan, and the Prosciutto di Parma Academy—established to foster professional development and pass on the wealth of knowledge and expertise that defines our PDO product to younger generations," concludes Utini. In 2025, exports of Prosciutto di Parma generated a turnover of €315 million, driven by the export of nearly 2.5 million hams—representing 37% of total production. The United States remains the leading foreign market, importing approximately 730,000 Prosciutti di Parma valued at close to €100 million, despite a drop in volume compared to the previous year caused by the introduction of tariffs and the resulting general uncertainty. Exports continue to be a strategic component for the sector, which is focusing closely on both consolidating traditional markets and developing new commercial opportunities.
