The regulatory authorisation allows Mission Barns and its partners to introduce ‘cultured pork fat’ into food service and retail products for the first time in the United States.
Mission Barns has received approval from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for its ‘cultured pork fat’ ingredient, allowing its first products to enter the US market.
The approval includes authorisation for USDA inspection of its pilot plant in San Francisco and label approval for its cultivated pork fat ingredient, following FDA approval earlier this year.
