Relaunching the Chianina: ANABIC improves the genetic index to enhance the qualities of the breed

‘Demand is picking up. The number of cattle reared has decreased a little and this has favoured the sale of calves. For the Chianina the crisis is not yet completely over, but we can see a little light at the end of the tunnel'.
Stefano Pignani, director of ANABIC (Associazione Nazionale Allevatori Bovini Italiani Carne) looks with a legitimate dose of caution at the turnaround in the market trend for the Chianina breed, which no more than a year ago was experiencing a deep crisis due above all to the significant increase in production and energy costs borne by breeders.
