Today social maraton with Unaitalia
Today, 2 October, marks Roast Chicken Day, the major social media marathon promoted by Unaitalia, the association of poultry meat producers, which celebrates the second most popular meat among Italians and the most purchased meat (44% of expenditure, Ismea data) consumed by 76.6% of Italians at least once a week in 2025 (half of them two or more times, AstraRicerche 2025 data). At the heart of this 9th edition is crispiness and the so-called “crunch effect”, the phenomenon whereby chewing slowly, listening to the sound of crunchy food melting in your mouth, relaxes your nerves and allows you to fully enjoy the taste of the dish.
Crispiness is a trend that appeals to 8 out of 10 Italians, with 57% choosing more crunchy foods than in the past, and roast chicken is the perfect ambassador for this trend. In fact, for 6 out of 10 Italians, the crunch of roast chicken generates satisfaction and fulfilment: almost a third say that this dish provides greater satiety than other crunchy foods (33.2% versus 27.3%). In addition, about 4 out of 10 Italians say that roast chicken is their comfort food because they love the crispiness of the skin, which remains their favourite part (35.3%). It is no coincidence that in the ranking of favourite savoury crunchy foods, Italians place chicken twice in the top five positions. This was revealed by a flash survey conducted by AstraRicerche on “Roast Chicken Day”.
