The profitability of Italian pig breeding farms continued to rise in October: the change in the Crefis index (www.crefis.it) for the closed cycle was +6.2% at the cyclical level and +16% at the trend level. As in the previous period, the profitability of the sector was supported by the decrease in the costs of some raw materials for pig feed and the increase in the quotations of heavy slaughtered animals destined for PDO products which, again in October, reached a value of 2.374 Euro/kg, marking +5.6% on a monthly basis and +2.3% on an annual basis.
