Slight recovery in slaughterers' margins thanks to lower pig purchase costs
The profitability of Italian closed-cycle farms worsened in October compared to the previous month, marking a 2.9% decline on a monthly basis and a 13.5% decline compared to the same period in 2024. This is according to analyses by Crefis (www.crefis.it), which show that, despite a slight reduction in feed costs, the decline in prices for heavy slaughter pigs destined for the protected circuit had a negative impact, falling by 3.3% compared to September and 11% on an annual basis, reaching a value of €2.110/kg.
