Passion for fire, absolute dedication and a visceral love for meat: these are the essential ingredients to become the best griller in Italy. This is decreed by “The Golden Steak”, the Italian championship for cooking steak on the bone, visible on Food Network (channel 33 of Digital Terrestrial and channel 53 on Tivùsat) and on demand on discovery+.
Devised by Christian Ranuschio, here in the role of head judge, the format pits some of the most talented grill enthusiasts against each other, selected through a national competition. Only eight competitors will access the final phase, where they will face the decisive tests to win the coveted title of Golden Steak.
Judging their performances, a team of great professionals of meat and the Italian barbecue world: Andrea Laganga, Francesco Camassa, Gianni Giardina, Riccardo Ricci, Orlando Di Mario, Eugenio Simonetti, Pasquale Maravita and Luca Terni. The evaluation criteria are strict: cooking, cutting, presentation of the dish and management of the fire will make the difference between a good Steak and a true champion.
In addition to the intense exchange of questions and answers between the competing grillers and the judges' table on topics strictly related to cooking on the embers, we are also happy to find useful insights into the various cuts, breeds and the best way to give the right value to the meat.
